It has never been easier to be vegan. In fact, there are now so many incredible vegan restaurants in London that it’s difficult to know where to eat! To help you out, we’ve put together a list of 10 best vegan places that not only showcase great vegan food in London but celebrate them.
Vegan Restaurants London
1. WTF! Burger
It isn’t easy to know where to start to find the best vegan restaurants in London. Should we begin with the dirty vegan chili fries? The Louisiana hot chicken burger? Or maybe the WTF classic? We honestly couldn’t recommend one item above the rest – they’re honestly that good.
One of our other favorite things about WTF is its attention to detail. Every burger is branded with its eye-catching WTF stamp, and even the smallest morsels, such as the ‘bacon’ bits, are absolute perfection.
These guys mainly do delivery, and you can find them on Deliveroo and Uber Eats, or you can order on their website. Trust us when we say that everything on this menu is naughty and luxurious – the perfect vegan comfort food.
2. Wulf & Lamb
Don’t be fooled by the name – Wulf & Lamb is a 100% vegan restaurant London. Inspired by the idea of ‘running with the wolves and eating with the lambs,’ this Chelsea-based restaurant serves ‘fiercely kind food.’
This is a motto that you can find echoed throughout every part of their menu. They’re most well known for their indulgent Mac’N’Cheese, which is made from cashew cream, and their Chilli ‘Non’ Carne, which is made using spiced mushrooms, lentils, and kidney beans. We’d also recommend the coconut rum doughnut if you’re looking for a divine little treat.
The beautiful minimalist aesthetic and the extensive wine selection make Wulf & Lamb a great option if you’re looking for a casual yet classy vegan restaurant.
3. Atis – A Newish Vegan Restaurant London
Okay, so Atis isn’t 100% vegan. But this restaurant is so good and offers so many great vegan options that we just had to put it on our list.
Atis makes ‘powerful food.’ This means that their food doesn’t just taste incredible, but it also does good things for the planet. They’re all about sustainably and ethically sourcing plant-based ingredients that help to build communities and nourish the soul.
We love their Miso Hungry warm bowl full of miso sesame tofu, wild rice, roasted lemon broccoli, and pickled ginger. Their Spicy Raw Thai is also incredible, as it tops red cabbage, carrots, beansprouts, and peanuts with a spicy cashew dressing. You can also build your bowls for even more customization.
4. Itadaki Zen
You may have heard of Itadaki Zen before, and for a good reason. It is a one-of-a-kind restaurant in that its dishes are all vegan, organic, and Japanese; it’s an excellent vegan place to eat in London.
We love their Chapche (stir-fried glass noodles with garlic teriyaki sauce) and their spring rolls, which were crunchy on the outside and full of beautifully soft mashed tofu on the inside. They also sell vegan sushi, including kimbap sushi rolls. If you’re not sure what to order, try one of their set menus – everything on it is utterly delicious.
Their casual, unfussy vibe is also a plus. If you want to try some laid-back vegan Japanese food, this is the spot for you.
We Are Vegan Everything (WAVE for short) is a cafe in Hackney that delivers beautiful and delicious vegan food in London, including an all-day brunch.
We heartily recommend their brunch options, including the vegan eggs (fried or scrambled) and the vegan smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels. And you can’t go to WAVE without ordering one of their freak shakes (banana and Biscoff are our favorites)!
WAVE doesn’t just serve excellent food, though – they are also known for their aesthetic. Half Mediterranean, half Scandi, this beautifully pink cafe is almost as beautiful as the food it serves.
6. Stem & Glory – Delicious Vegan Restaurant London
Stem & Glory has been voted the best vegan restaurant in London – and we know why. Every dish on the menu is vibrant in color and flavor, and they’re all healthful and gut-friendly.
We are obsessed with their starters, including the BBQ cauliflower wings and the tofu yakitori, but it’s the ever-evolving main menu that speaks to us. In the past, they’ve served spicy and moreish ‘meatballs, pulled jackfruit tacos, and sticky baked BBQ tempeh strips. Believe us when we say that this is vegan food, unlike anything you’ve had before.
They also have a chef’s table where you can sit and watch the chefs and bartenders while sipping on craft beers, cocktails, and vegan wines. You’ll have an even more fabulous time!
7. Temple of Seitan – A favourite Vegan Restaurant London
If you’re looking for vegan comfort food, you’ve come to the right place. Burgers, chicken, and mac ‘n cheese are the name of the game at Temple of Seitan.
Their seitan chicken is enormous and crispy, and we honestly can’t say whether we like it in burgers or as wings better. (You’ll need to try both to see for yourself.) Their vegan milkshakes are similarly supersized, as well as luxuriously thick.
If you’ve ever missed the flavor or texture of fried chicken, then you need to run down to Temple of Seitan. You won’t regret it!
8. Redemption Bar
This vegan restaurant and bar have blessed Covent Garden. There’s a reason why it is called Redemption – and that’s because after eating here, you’ll feel like you’ve had a spiritual experience.
Seriously though, everything at Redemption is healthy and tastes fantastic. You have to try the Tofish moqueca (a Brazilian stew made with tofu, coconut farofa, and basmati rice) or their Chayote & pear ceviche. And as for cocktails, we love the hibiscus margarita and Rachel’s nipponjin. There’s also a wide array of exciting mocktails for anyone looking to cut down on alcohol.
Pop in for brunch, lunch, or dinner ASAP!
9. Mao Chow
You’d never expect such a tiny restaurant to serve such huge flavors. But that’s the power of Mao Chow.
This is a 100% vegan Chinese restaurant that is inspired by Sichuan flavors. So yes, that means the dishes are full of delicious, mouth-numbing spices. If you’re ready to take on the heat, we recommend the sesame dan dan noodles and the spicy dumplings. The fried oyster mushroom bao is also packed with flavor, and it’s a good option for those of us who are less good with spice!
There are no frills here – just honest, fantastic food.
10. Black Cat
Finally, we have the Black Cat cafe in Hackney. If you’re looking for a warm and homey space to spend an afternoon, you couldn’t do better than here. Run by a cooperative, this little space is packed with books, locally-made products, and chocolates.
They offer a wide variety of sandwiches (seitan steak with chimichurri, anyone?) as well as a delightful array of noodle salads and curries. Their hot sauce is a particularly popular hit – Scotch bonnets meet Mediterranean herbs to create great heat.
They’ve also opened a vegan kitchen at Roadtrip & The Workshop in Shoreditch that serves ‘tapas without borders.’ This is an equally fabulous space to eat delicious, plant-based foods.
