The Kensington hotel has introduced a brand-new ‘80 Days Around The World’ Afternoon Tea experience for those in search of decadent escapism.
As a matter of fact, the new Afternoon Tea offering will be the first in a series of adventurous seasonal teas at the hotel, drawing inspiration from the worldly travels of Phileas Fogg – the protagonist in Jules Verne’s 1872 novel “Around the World in Eighty Days”.

The Setting
Located in the beautiful leafy end of Kensington, The Kensington is made up of four traditional Victorian townhouses as well sits on the corner of Queen’s Gate and Old Brompton Road.
Furthermore, the hotel houses a beautiful restaurant made up of interconnected drawing rooms and the K Bar, the hotel’s intimate cocktail bar.
Also, this is where their Afternoon Tea is served and it’s the ideal setting to spend a relaxing afternoon being spoiled by the staff.
The Afternoon Tea
The afternoon tea ’80 Days Around The World’ takes customers from Kensington, around the world, and back. Also, vegan as well as gluten-free alternatives are available.
In addition, Fogg on a whistle-stop tour of the world from Hong Kong to Ireland surprised expectations in a battle against time.
Lastly, Kensington Hotel Afternoon Tea celebrates his travels with savoury amuse-bouche, exquisite sandwiches, sweets, as well as scones.
The Menu
First, try London’s beef pie with puff pastry to start the meal. A Parmesan Gougere packed with tomato cream leads to a Cairo street food classic, Ta’ameya (falafel) with tahini oil.
Second, get London’s lemon-and-chive cream cheese with smoked salmon, Parisian mustard mayo with ham, and pickled gherkin in traditional sandwiches.
It also has sundried tomatoes with green pesto, and mozzarella, as well as cumin hummus with caramelised onions.
Lastly, order fresh fruit, scones with homemade jams, and clotted cream will be offered. Banoffee Pie, French Opera Mont Blanc, Italian Tiramisu, and Pistachio Twirl are standout desserts.
Gluten-free and vegan Afternoon Tea alternatives are also available.
Cocktails and Drinks
The Kensington crew offers an excellent selection of signature cocktails.
Aperini is a variation on Rossini with Aperol influenced by Italian Aperitivo; Orchard Field embodies UK orchard and elderflower fields.
The Montmartre Hills, a bubbly Brandy Crusta, transports guests to Paris’ artistic areas. Egyptian folklore serves as the inspiration for the Limoon Dreams nightclub.
The Rare Tea Company’s 80 Days Around the World afternoon tea includes teas from Malawi, Japan, China, and South Africa.
Perrier-Jout Blanson Rose NV to Rathfinny Classic Cuvée Brut 2017 Champagne and English Sparkling Wine are also available by the glass or bottle.
Expert Conclusion
The Kensington Hotel Afternoon Tea costs £58 per person, plus £18 for Rare Teas or Perrier-Jout Grand Brut NV.
This is a great price for those looking to spend an afternoon indulging in an idyllic location.
Kensington’s new Afternoon Tea menu is one of my favourites in London.
