The SO/Bangkok is considered by many to be the pinnacle of luxury in Thailand, and it’s easy to see why once you’ve stayed here.
This five-star hotel in the centre of Bangkok has everything you could ever need in a hotel, from upscale restaurants that serve fine Thai cuisine to some of the most luxurious spa treatments in the world.
The hotel also boasts an impressive collection of art from Thailand and around the world.
All of this makes the SO/Bangkok one of the best hotels in Bangkok, and when you consider its location on a busy street in central Bangkok, overlooking Lumpini Park, it’s the place to stay while visiting Bangkok.

The Location
The SO/Bangkok overlooks Lumpini Park, one of Bangkok’s most gorgeous parks. The rooms are high enough above Sathorn Road to reduce noise.
The airport can be reached in 30 minutes via car, and the subway and stations are within comfortable walking distance.
The hotel also provides free parking and bicycle rentals, allowing guests to explore the park on two wheels.
The Atmosphere and Scene
Five of Thailand’s leading designers were called on to tell their version of the story of the five elements: Water, Earth, Wood, Metal and Fire.
Monsieur Christian Lacroix’s uninhibited imagination emanates throughout the hotel, from the bold staff uniforms and the visionary installation in the lobby to his unmistakable design stamp at the Club Signature Lounge.
Its ninth-floor lobby has wood-themed furnishings and overlooks Lumpini Park (guests use an elevator from the ground floor upon arrival). It leads to a rooftop garden with loungers and seats.
The MIXO Bar functions as a lobby seating area, which offers cocktails, drinks, and snacks all day.
Rooms And Suits at SO/Bangkok
Rooms and suites of the SO/Bangkok are styled into Water, Earth, Wood, and Metal themes. The Water, Wood, and Metal rooms have a clean, modest, and minimalist atmosphere.
All rooms are sleek and modern, with Apple TV and flat-screen TVs, complimentary minibars, and huge soaking tubs.
Rooms overlook Lumpini Park. Suites include iPads, workout kits, and access to a lounge with free breakfast, snacks, and drinks.
The bathrooms are contemporary and extensive, with bathrobes, showers, and Ytsara bath accessories. In addition, espresso machines, floor-to-ceiling windows, exclusive MyBed beds, and free Wi-Fi are available in its rooms.
SO/Bangkok Modern Features
The wellness centre has a full-service spa, a fitness centre with park views, and a yoga studio.
It features a rooftop infinity pool with loungers and poolside drinks and snacks. There are a lot of lounge chairs and a couple towards the shallow end of the pool. There’s also a pool bar where you can order cocktails while watching the city’s sunset.
The Cassette Sky Bar is located on the same floor above the Hi-SO. However, all hotel guests are welcome. The views are much better here, especially if you can get a table on edge.
The view is spectacular, although there are superior rooftop pubs with much better views. The Banyan Tree hotel’s Vertigo Bar provides 360-degree views of Bangkok.
Dining Experience at SO/Bangkok
Breakfast at SO/Bangkok is an exquisite affair. The breakfast buffet is fantastic, with everything you want to start your day.
Western meals include pastries, pancakes, cheeses, bacon, sausage, and omelettes. You can also enjoy traditional Asian cuisine like dim sum, congee, roast pork, and others.
Amazing! Intelligent’s in-house mixologist’s cocktails were a highlight of our meal.
We were fortunate enough to be staying at SO/Bangkok during the week-long, SO Amazing Chefs annual fine dining event, and what a night it was! A six-course tasting menu curated by chef TONG paired with a stunning array of cocktails and hosted by the talented Bobby Chinn.
We enjoyed the entire menu from start to finish with a notable favourite, the Wagyu beef with fried rice.
Tucking into the Bulkier Rye, vanilla Belgian chocolate syrup and fragrant butter cocktail was the perfect pre-dessert treat.
The Bottom Line
The SO/Bangkok, created by French fashion star Christian Lacroix, attracts luxury-loving young travellers. This hotel’s suites offer beautiful views of Bangkok’s Lumpini Park.
It has a rooftop pool, bar, spa, and gym. Each room offers soaking tubs, flat televisions, and Apple TV.
